A "SADISTIC" rapist who filmed his violent sex attack on a mobile phone is starting a 14-year prison sentence.

Jon Leaver left his 19-year-old victim with a broken jaw after repeatedly punching her in the face during the ordeal.

His victim was also left with two fractured cheek bones, four broken teeth and multiple bruising to her face, back, shoulders and knees.

She had to have a metal plate inserted in her jaw which will be permanent.

Leaver, aged 23, of Mayfield Street, Atherton, was sentenced at Liverpool Crown Court on Thursday after being found guilty of rape and grievous bodily harm.

He has a tattoo of a woman's disfigured face on his stomach.

Judge David Boulton told him: "I wonder, when I see the tattoo, and I see what you did to that woman's face, whether you were attempting to obliterate a face.

"The violence you used was extreme to the point of being sadistic.

"The tattoo which you carry is disturbing, and shows a contempt for women.

"I consider that you are extremely dangerous to women."

The court heard that Leaver and his victim met in Barbarella's nightclub in Leigh, and left together in the early hours of February 20 to get taxis home.

They were seen on CCTV behind the Spinning Gate shopping centre, where they began to have sex with the woman's consent.

But Leaver's behaviour became increasingly violent.

He pushed her against a wall and recorded himself with his mobile phone performing a sex act on her.

She begged him to stop, but he was seen to pull her head back by her hair and grab her around the throat while she tried in vain to push him away. She was thrown to the ground before being knocked unconscious.

A security guard who was monitoring the camera raised a nearby barrier, which disturbed Leaver. He picked the woman up and carried her away.

Shortly afterwards, a man walking past an alley off Union Street heard whimpering and found the woman.

Leaver was arrested after detectives studied CCTV tapes and used DNA evidence to link him to the attack. Leaver claimed the woman had consented throughout, saying it had been "rough sex" which she had wanted to continue.

Det Con Pete Morris, from Leigh CID, said: "The victim has been scarred for life at the hands of Leaver, and I only hope that today's sentence will help her to move on and rebuild her life."

Leaver's 19-year-old victim said: "This has totally changed my life and I still have fears about stepping outside the house on my own.

"It has been a difficult seven months, but I'm slowly rebuilding my life. I hope people can look at this case and see that the right result can be found, and people shouldn't be afraid to come forward.

"No means no, and no one should go through what I did."
