Wanderers were forced to increase the size of their pitch on Thursday night, by order of UEFA.
The dimensions of the Reebok playing surface - one of the smallest in the Premiership - had to be lengthened and widened by a metre to comply with standards laid down by Europe's governing body.
"We've kept the pitch to the same dimensions as last season when we had more home victories than ever in the Premiership," Sam Allardyce said, "but we had to bring it out slightly, to the UEFA minimum.
"It will be back to normal for the next Premiership game."
Groundstaff camouflaged the Premiership markings with green die, although Wanderers wide man Ricardo Gardner appeared to be confused at one point, when he took a throw-in - a metre inside the playing area!
