DUE to the continued dry weather conditions, with many local waters at low levels despite welcome rains on Saturday (Sept 10), Jumbles Reservoir is exceptionally low, as is the Coffin Lodge at Tottington.
The green algae growth at Cromptons Lodge, Elton was causing concern, together with floating dead weed.
On Sunday, this was the venue for the Bury Club September cup.
The venue hit top form with mainly small roach being caught. Top weight fill to Roy Gough with 9-4-0. In second place Steve Madden 6-8-0 and third, Bill Turner 2-0-0.
Also on Sunday, Seapa Porritt AC fished the Tubman trophy on No. 6 lodge at Bradshaw.
Top weight fill to Tony Thorpe, with skimmers and roach 10-5-0. In second place, junior angler Mark Worthington, with a single carp 9-1-0. In third place A. Berry, with skimmers and roach for 8-0-0 and fourth, Steve Kenyon 7-0-0.
In the Sunday Open, held on Pilsworth match lake, Dave Jowett (snr), Fishermans Way, had top weight 16-8-0; second, T. Lomax (Gilders) 14-8-0; third, D. Keenan (Whitworth) 9-8-0; fourth, D. Gray (Lumb Valley) 8-12-0.
In the Todmorden Open fished by 36 anglers, fished on the Rochdale Canal between Durdale and gas works. Top weight fill to Frank Szakaley with 15-5-12, boosted by an 8lb carp.
In second place Daz Shaw (Drennan NW) 12-6-12; third, N. Smith (Tri Cast, Rochdale) 8-1-12 and fourth, D. Brierley (Octoplus) 7-15-12.
On the pleasure fishing scene, Parkers bottom lodge is fishing well for skimmers and roach. Kirklees Square Lodge has produced perch and roach.
The European Championship took place last weekend on the River Vah, in Hlohovec, Slovakia. Top teams being Poland, 58-5 points, gold medal; second Drennan team England, 68 points, silver medal; third, Italy, 76-5 points, bronze medal.
Top individual. First, Will Raison (Drennan, England) gold, with 12.990kg (three points). In second place, G. Carlo (Italy) 6.130kg (three points) and third, G. Ferrucio (Italy) four points.

THE next club match for the H. Hoyle trophy takes place on Cliffe Reservoir, on Sunday, September 25, draw 9.15am fishing 10am to 2pm.

THE next club trip on Saturday, September 17, is to Almch to fish aboard Kerry Kim, sailing 8am.
BURY SENIOR SECTION
THE club have a working party on Parkers Lodge this coming Saturday, September 17, to complete strimming of the dam wall, please meet 9am.
Names are now being taken for the club annual cup which takes place on Sunday, September 25.
Twenty people have been booked at Horns Dam, Goosnargh, near Preston.
Entry fee is £5 and payable at Fishermans Way.
