CONSERVATION orders were created to protect our heritage from harm, loss, change or decay.
After reading the article in the Bolton Evening News about the latest proposal to demolish Deansgate Parade incorporating Sweetens Bookshop once "The Kings Arms" obviously they can be ignored when it suits.
Sweetens Bookshop is a lovely old building holding many fond memories for a lot of Bolton residents. Surely any developers of the land behind, can incorporate a bit of local history into their plans to create something that is unique to Bolton.
Why does our town have to be a clone of several others?
Why are the inhabitants who pay council tax and subsequently councillors wages never asked for their views on local developments or changes?
Too many major plans go ahead without discussions of any kind with the public. When we do protest and make our views known our protests are ignored.
