WALSHAW 4, STAND 3: In an action packed game at King George's, Walshaw just edged an tight game with their local neighbours from Whitefield.

The early exchanges were quite even with both sides having chances to open the scoring.

Walshaw finally broke the deadlock when an inswinging corner was only half cleared and Pilling rifled the ball into the top of the net.

Chances came and went for both sides before Stand levelled five minutes before the break when Dickinson headed home after some good work from Tony Airey and Morley.

The open nature of the game continued into the second half and the home side restored their lead when a beautifully flighted free-kick by Chapman was met by a towering header from Sachs, who made no mistake.

Stand were still a major threat though and equalised again from Barrington's close range freekick

The game still ebbed and flowed and Walshaw again got the upper hand when an inswinging corner was met by a thumping header from Pilling to make it 3-2.

Time was now running out for Stand but, with five minutes to go, they levelled the game again with a rasping shot from 35 yards which beat Kenyon all ends up.

Davies was the goalscorer and it looked like he had had the final say in an enthralling contest.

As the visitors celebrated, a neutral may have thought that was that. But with time running out, the home side broke in numbers and the ball was fizzed into the box where top scorer Derby gleefully lashed it home.

The referee's final whistle came as the game restarted, ending an entertaining game for a neutral.

However, one would think both managers would not be happy about some of the defending on show.
