A ROAD accident victim is advertising his safety crusade from behind the steering wheel of his car.
Allan Ramsay (57), of Ashcombe Drive, Radcliffe, suffered near fatal head injuries in 1991 after he was hit on the back of the head by a metal pole protruding from the side of a passing wagon in Oldham. He has since become a member of RoadPeace, the national charity for road crash victims, and supports their attempts to cut the number of road accidents.
And now Allan is promoting the work they do, on the rear of his Volvo V40 with stickers promoting the website and the slogans "RoadPeace contributes to world peace" and "care and courtesy secures respect and a better world".
The P-reg Volvo V40 estates colour is similar to the mauve shade of the RoadPeace leaflets, and Allan says, Volvos are synonymous with safety.
He said: "Road accidents destroy tens of thousands of lives every year, and when I was buying my car, I approached the local Volvo dealership and asked if they would help promote RoadPeace throughout the borough."
The Walker Farrimond dealership in Bury, will now be handing out the RoadPeace leaflets to its customers.
