A PENSIONER who died when his car careered off a motorway and hit a tree has been named as Stanley William Kensley.

The 84-year-old, from Vicarage Road, Blackrod, is thought to have suffered a heart attack at the wheel of his Daewoo Nexia, when he was travelling on the M62 in West Yorkshire, on Saturday morning.

Emergency services were called to the sliproad, which joins the M62 to the M621 close to Leeds, just before 9am, after reports that a car was seen to leave the carriageway.

Mr Kensley suffered injuries in the crash but police said it was thought that his death was likely to have been the result of a seizure he suffered at the wheel.

He was alone in the car at the time of the crash.

Police closed the road for three hours while the accident was investigated.

A spokesman said: "The man appears to have suffered some sort of medical condition at the wheel and the matter has been passed to the coroner."
