CELEBRATIONS to mark the centenary and refurbishment of Morris Green Park will take place on Saturday.
The Mayor of Bolton, Cllr Frank White, will formally open the event at 1.15pm with guest Freda McFarland, aged 89, who wrote a History of Morris Green 20 years ago.
The beauty spot has been restored, landscaped and given an updated drainage system, new kerbs and a new perimeter fence with ornamental gates.
It has been made possible thanks to funding from the Heaton and Lostock and Hulton Area Forum (£23,000), Great Lever Neighbourhood Renewal Fund (£10,000), Bolton Council's Greenspace Management Team (£10,000) and the Governments Living Spaces programme (£20,000).
Entertainment will include the Hayward School Steel Band, the Horwich Prize Medal Morris Men, Punch and Judy shows, clowns, and hand and face painting.
There will be free gifts for children and a handout about the parks history.
