RAMSBOTTOM United manager Lee Sculpher is backing his side to put the disappointment of Tuesday's defeat against Formby behind them when they play Squires Gate on Saturday, writes Marc Higginson.
Rammy pulled off a fantastic result when they beat Whitley Bay 2-1 in the FA Cup 1st Qualifying Round at the weekend but slumped to Formby just three days later.
Sculpher said: "We were magnificent against Whitley and I was pleased with the display up there but it was a case of 'after the lord mayor's show' against Formby because some of the lads just didn't want to know.
"It was disappointing because we have better players than Formby but they wanted it more than us.
"The league is our bread and butter and doing well in the cups is no use if we keep on slipping in the league.
"I have to say, though, that Matt Raywood was excellent against Formby and led by example, but he was the only one."
The Rams host Squires Gate in the FA Vase this weekend and Sculpher admits he is looking forward to it: "It's a good chance for us to get back to winning ways and is a realistic chance for us to do well in a national competition.
"It's disappointing to draw a team from the same league in a national competition but we know what they are about and hope to be on the winning side come the final whistle.
"Squires Gate are a big physical side who don't concede many."
Sculpher will be without Chris Steele for the game after he picked up a knee injury that will sideline him for at least a week.
The Rams also visit Skelmersdale United on Tuesday night.
