THE Tigers will be going down to Goldington Road to try to repeat their opening day away win at Coventry, and once more exact some revenge over an historic club.

Last season the Blues enjoyed a double over Sedgley, winning 13-8 at home before travelling up to Park Lane to grab a 23-12 victory.

Following pre-season games at home to Guinness Premiership side Saracens (lost 8-28), and National Two side Blackheath (won 31-7) they opened their league campaign with a hard fought 16-16 draw at Otley, followed by a seven-try demolition of new boys Doncaster, running out 47-17 victors.

Last season they finished in seventh slot and no doubt the famous sloping pitch and the club's attack at al costs policy will make them hard to beat again this season, especially at home.

However, new coach Mark Rayer, who took over from Rudi Straeuli in the summer, will have to do without points machine Leigh Hinton, who has moved to the Celtic Leagues Newport Gwent Dragons.

Last season his haul of 347 points saw him enter the club's record books for the most points scored in a season.

There have been several other comings and goings.

On the way out have been wing Spencer Brown (Nottingham), flanker Ben Lewitt (Northampton), scrum-half Ian Vass (Harlequins), Ben Whetstone (Cambridge) and Mattie Stewart (retired).

While coming in are centre Liam Roberts (Cardiff), scrum-half Alex Page (Gloucester), utility back Paul Kendal (Mumbles), Emyr Lewis (Northland) and centre Tom Luke (Leonessa).

"Hopefully we will have Phil Jones back at stand-off," said disappointed player-coach, Tim Fourie.

"We have to improve in and around the ruck area, use the ball effectively, win our own set phases and put some pressure on Bedford.

"Last season we should have won down there, we were in front for most of the game and they got a charge-down try to win it.

"Mis-tackles killed us last week, the tight five were under all sorts of pressure in the scrum and we generally lacked menace in the lineout, so we have some work to do.

"I know we have only played two games but I have been unimpressed with our general lack of enthusiasm and hunger so far.

"We seem to be able to kick the crap out of each other in training but not reproduce it in a game. In particular we need to inject some steel into the pack and we have to start playing rugby.

"The guys are taking decent money for what they are doing and now they have to start earning it."
