Here we go again! A recent letter in the Bury Times was requesting that residents and families in Bury support their local football team ('Support the Shakers', Letters, September 1).

We have in recent times listened to these pleas and decided as a family that we would look at different ways of supporting Bury FC.

We enrolled our five-year-old son at "Bury's Football in The Community" summer programme for one week of the school holidays. He thoroughly enjoyed his time there, and so we decided that we would take him to their next match.

Himself, his father and four other family members eventually got tickets when Bury played Bolton. We drove down to the ground several days prior to the match in pursuit of the tickets. Nobody that we asked seemed to know where or how these tickets could be obtained so the risk was taken to turn up on the night.

My son and the other members of our family set off - extremely excited - to watch his new found football team! This is an outing that will not be being repeated.

My family had been subjected to an hour and a half's lesson on foul and abusive language by Bury Football Club "supporters".

It is such a shame that the outing turned out this way as both myself and my husband own businesses in Bury, and our allocation for advertising and marketing was destined to make its way to Gigg Lane.

However, we will take our family and our business elsewhere!
