JAY Jay Okocha will see a familiar face at the pre-match formalities on Thursday night.
Match referee, Darko Ceferin, who will be in charge when Wanderers kick off their first European adventure against Lokomotiv Plovdiv, was at the centre of a controversial UEFA Cup tie the Bolton skipper was involved in four years ago, when playing for Paris St Germain.
The aptly-named Slovenian official was forced to abandon a PSG tie against Rapid Bucharest in Romania when the Rapid floodlights failed five minutes from the end of a tense extra-time period.
Okocha's PSG - featuring Nicolas Anelka, Cristobal and Ronaldinho had been held to a scoreless draw in the first leg at the Parc Des Princes but had just gone 1-0 up through a Jose Aloisio goal when the lights went out.
They were so convinced they had won the tie that coach Luis Fernandes promptly flew them back to France without waiting for a ruling from UEFA on whether the game should be replayed the following day.
They were eventually awarded a 3-0 victory because Rapid were held responsible for the abandonment. But they were fined 15,000 Swiss francs by UEFA (around £7,000) for leaving Romania without approval.
PSG, who qualified through the Intertoto Cup that season, went on to beat Rapid Vienna in the second round before going out on penalties to Rangers in the third.
Mr Ceferin, who is in his sixth season as an international referee, will be accompanied by three fellow Slovenians at the Reebok, where Primoz Arhar and Andrej Kokolj will be his assistants and Matjaz Bohinc the fourth official.
