VAUXHALL MOTORS 4, LEIGH RMI 4: Leigh's new attacking policy worked a treat only for their usual resilient defence to let them down.
RMI boss Andy Nelson wanted his side to get forward quicker to create more scoring opportunities, and although that part worked well, the more exposed defence could not cope.
"I was disappointed not to get the three points," admitted Nelson. "We have worked hard on getting forward and it worked wonderfully well and we scored four goals. Unfortunately our defence, which we have looked to build upon this season, let us down. They made schoolboy errors which cost us.
"But there are still a lot of positives to be taken from the game. We scored some great goals and you have to remember the team is full of young kids who are learning every week."
Every time Leigh scored, Vauxhall, with just one win and five losses before the game, pulled one back. It was 3-3 at the interval with goals by Lee Shillito, Steve Smith and Liam Coyne, while Ryan McDowell grabbed one after the break.
