A WOMAN, aged 49, is seriously ill after she was hit by a car when she crossed the road.
Traffic police are appealing for information about a road traffic collision on Wednesday in which a 49-year-old woman was injured.
The woman was crossing Mealhouse Lane in Atherton, at around 4.45pm when she was struck by the car.
She was taken to Royal Bolton Hospital with head and leg injuries.
She has since been transferred to the intensive care unit at Hope Hospital were her condition is currently described as critical. The driver of the Honda Stream car was not injured in the collision.
Officers believe that several people stopped to help at the scene but left without giving their details.
They are appealing for those people to come forward and help them with their inquiries.
