AN 84-YEAR-OLD man has died after his car careered off a motorway sliproad and hit trees.
The pensioner, from Blackrod, is thought to have suffered a heart attack seconds before his Daewoo Nexia left a sliproad on the M62 in West Yorkshire on Saturday.
Emergency services were called to the sliproad, which links the M62 to the M621 close to Leeds, at 9am after reports that a car was seen to leave the carriageway.
The man suffered injuries in the crash but police said it was thought that the man's death was likely to have been the result of a seizure he suffered at the wheel.
He was alone in the car at the time of the crash.
Police closed the road for three hours while the accident was investigated.
A spokesman said: "The man appears to have suffered some sort of medical condition at the wheel and the matter has been passed to the coroner.
"We have not been able to formally identify the man at this stage."
