COMEDIAN Jimmy Cricket will be entertaining the folk of Farnworth on Friday.
The Hawkers Social Club has landed the comic for one night only.
Chairman of the club, in Gladstone Road, Malcolm Cubbin said: "It is a real scoop having Jimmy Cricket playing in Farnworth in a small venue like this.
"But we will give him a very warm welcome."
Mr Cubbin talked the television and radio celebrity into appearing at the club after a chance encounter with him at a charity function in Heywood to raise money for the Boxing Day Tsunami relief operation.
Mr Cubbin said: "During the evening, my partner and I took a wrong turn and somehow ended up backstage and bumped into him. He was so nice and such a gentleman.
"I thought about asking him to appear at the club and got in touch with his agent and things just snowballed from there."
The celebrity agreed to add it as a date of his current nationwide tour.
Jimmy Cricket will take to the stage from about 9pm.
Tickets are £8 and are available by ringing 01204 537480 or 07977272021.
