FIREFIGHTERS worked throughout the night tackling a fire at the site of a former Radcliffe nightclub.
Arsonists are being blamed for setting fire to the derelict building in Warth Fold Road which used to house Fusion and Bennys - just before 10pm on Friday night.
At the height of the fire, there were 23 firefighters from Bolton North, Heywood, Bury and Whitefield at the blaze.
Crews stayed on the scene throughout the night damping down.
Sub-officer Tim Eaton, from Whitefield fire station, said: "The fire was well alight when we got there.
"We had to call in a special appliance because of problems with access to the site. There was a small bridge which the pumps could not get over and we needed to use this appliance to reach the fire.
"We have small portable pumps which we had to take over to the site using the off-road vehicle and then use a nearby canal as a water supply."
