EL-HADJI Diouf will pay for his petulance.

Sam Allardyce has confirmed he will fine the controversial Senegal striker for picking up his third booking of the season in the win at West Ham.

Diouf was substituted at Upton Park just minutes after being booked for kicking the ball away in a fit of temper. It was his second yellow card of the season and one of four Wanderers picked up in the victory over the Hammers. But it was the only one that has niggled Allardyce.

Six yellows in four games is an unusually high count, but the manager is prepared to make allowances for certain misdemeanours.

"When you are defending for long periods, which we had to do in the second half at West Ham, you will find that more tackles go in," he said.

"I think that our fatigue level kicked in towards the end of the game, becauase it was our third game in seven days, and there was a little more desperation. They were giving away one or two more free kicks than usual and that resulted in more bookings unfortunately.

"What I want to cut out is not that, so much as silly incidents like Dioufy kicking the ball away and he'll get punished for that. The rest of the lads were making tackles trying to win the ball and, if they get booked for that, I have to accept it."
