As stated above we have had a wet winter, which meant that the reservoirs were full. However, with the extremely dry summer all the streams that feed the reservoirs have virtually dried up and the reservoirs around Bolton are falling at an alarming rate; some reservoirs are nearly empty. Even when it did rain, in the heat it very quickly evaporated and it only wet the ground, no added water found its way into the reservoir.
I believe that there is less than 40 days supply left in the North West, and Yorkshire are going to cut off water supplies for 24 hours at a time. If it stops raining in this country altogether I believe that we would run out of water in a short period of time.
