SIR: Some of your readers may have noticed that a new series of the People's Parliament has started on Channel 4 on a Saturday night, where, according to the producers of the programme, a cross section of the population debate current issues. But in my experience as a participant in the last series I can safely say that this is not the case. The so-called cross section of the population consisted of members of pressure groups, political parties etc.
So anyone watching the People's Parliament in hope of a intellectual debate conducted by real human-beings would in my opinion, find it better if they tuned into children's' TV for they will find a set of programmes that at least someone can take seriously.
