BIG-hearted hospital fund-raisers have already raised nearly £400 for a former colleague struck down by a brain haemorrhage. And the Tom's Team Appeal supporters will keep generating cash for their great friend nursing auxiliary Tom Egan, of Clarence Street, Farnworth. Two nurses have even taken on a sponsored slim.
As reported in the BEN, staff at Bolton General Hospital decided to help make life easier for Tom and his wife Kath by raising money.
Nursing staff raised £150 with a sponsored climb of Snowdon and with ticket sales for an entertainment evening added, the appeal has a running total of £385.
Tom, 47, faces the rest of his life confined to a wheelchair and unable to speak.
Kath had to give up her job as a domestic at the hospital to care full-time for Tom.
A quiz night is being held on October 12 at the Dixon Green Labour Club in Farnworth. Teams of up to five can enter at £1 per person.
Fund-raising will continue until mid-December before the money is handed over. Anyone who can help the appeal should call Maureen Heggie on Bolton 417489
