BOLTON planning councillors were right to turn done a massive housing scheme for Westhoughton.
As the three Westhoughton councillors pointed out the roads cannot cope with any more traffic. They are the men-on-the-spot and they should know.
Previously local people have warned about potential problems of traffic chaos in other areas before housing developments have gone ahead. Too often they have been ignored and a government minister has over-ruled the local planning authority.
We hope that this time, if the housing developers take the matter to appeal, the views of the Westhoughton residents and their councillors will be heeded.
After all, they are the people who have to cope with increased traffic and the resulting congestion.
