BUSINESSES attending the first North-west Business Recycling Exhibition will be seeking to slash waste bills by finding new practical recycling routes. The exhibition, organised by Groundwork Wigan and Chorley, will be open for business on October 18 at the Wigan Investment Centre between 9.45am and 5pm. Admission is free. Helen De Lemos, environmental services manager with Groundwork Wigan, points out the excellent financial benefits available.

"Recycling just one tonne of paper rather than sending it to landfill can instantly convert a cost of £10 into a profit of up to £50. "Even pubs and clubs can halve their waste bills by using a glass recycling contractor to dispose of their bottles."

Savings from a wide range of other materials including plastics, drums, solvents, electronics, office, textiles, metals, and even fluorescent light tubes can be discussed with recyclers at the show.

Free seminars will be covering recycling options for electronics, oil, paper, plastics and textiles, as well as how to save costs through good environmental management.

The confidential waste legislation surgery and the Groundwork information desk will be on hand to help with queries on waste law and environmental issues.
