SIR: It was sad to read of the man who committed suicide the other weekend and took his four children with him.
Apparently the last straw for this man was a demand for £2,800 from the C.S.A. on top of other debts of £20,000.
Unfortunately one of the many faults of the C.S.A. is that their debts come first in the form of a deduction of earnings order straight from your wage. This amount is so high it leaves you with not enough money to live on, never paying off debts. Performing overtime to keep above water leaves you in a 'Catch 22' situation because the more you earn the more they take. Any temporary increase in salary is also expected to be maintained throughout the year and your next assessment will be calculated with that in mind.
Remember the ex-partner and children will not see one penny of this money.
A support group has been established in Bolton to help people suffering problems with the C.S.A.
Meetings are fortnightly at 8pm, Victory Reform Club, Bolton, next meeting Tuesday October 17.
Representatives from the Labour and Liberal parties have attended these meetings but despite being invited nobody from the Conservatives.
