house prices in Bolton are among the lowest in the North West, according to new figures released by the Halifax Building Society.
The average price of a semi-detached house in the town is now £48,650 compared to a North West regional figure of £52,415.
In Bury house buyers can expect to pay £52,050 and in Wigan £45,950.
Average prices are higher than Bolton in the North West's two main cities Manchester (£49,700) and Liverpool (£54,050).
Around the country house prices have risen by 0.3 per cent in September following a 0.1 per cent increase in August. The average price of a semi-detached in the UK is now £61,498.
Over the year the North West housing market was the weakest in the country, showing a 5.3 per cent fall.
Halifax have warned that the housing market remains weak and said government measures to stimulate the market will be needed to support any significant recovery.
