THE Burnden terrace chant "There's only one Bolton Wanderers" is not strictly true.

For there is another team of the same name which plays regularly - on the other side of the Atlantic.

Chart-topping superstar Michael Bolton has his own charity softball team also called Bolton Wanderers.

The ever-changing celebrity team plays matches to raise money for the American star's favourite charities.

During a recent visit to Britain to promote his Greatest Hits album, a fan of the real Bolton Wanderers presented the singer with a Super Whites football kit.

Nick Worsley, originally from Heaton, works as a radio plugger for Sony Records and was charged with getting airplay and promoting Bolton's new album, currently number four in the LP charts.

He escorted the singer as he gave a series of celebrity interviews in this country and presented him with a football shirt backstage at the Top of the Pops studios.

"I gave it to him in the dressing room and he tried it on, " said Nick.

"He said it was cool because it had Reebok on the front."

Between them Nick and his brother Paul are determined to promote their favourite football team worldwide - even if they are not Number One.

The BEN recently reported how Alive and Kicking star Emma Forbes was converted to become a Wanderers fan and wore a Bolton kit for a photo shoot by her manager Paul.

The football-mad brothers broke into the pop world after being recommended for jobs by DJ-turned-pop promoter Peter Powell who became a friend when they organised a charity expedition in their teens.
