STEVE Vychinski's LITTLE HULTON UTD still force the pace at the top of the Manchester League's Premier Division after a superb 3-0 away win at Rochdale Sacred Heart.

Striker Tony Bolton continues to be the hottest goalscoring property on the local scene with yet another to add to his tally. Further goals came from midfield maestro Dave Lees and young centre back Mark Smith.

Perhaps ATHERTON TOWN'S defeat at at Wythenshaw Amateurs cannot be described as a surprise, but the scoreline can. Town slumped to a heavy 4-1 thumping.

In the West Lancs League, EAGLEY'S improved West Lancs League Division One form continued last Saturday when they snatched a point in an exciting 3-3 encounter at Alton United. The long journey had its early affect on the Villagers as they found themselves 2-0 down at the break. However on 60 minutes, arrears were reduced when Pete Darby headed home and the same player created an equaliser ten minutes later for Phil Hutchinson. Surrounded by a fiercely excited home crowd, Dalton immediately went upfield to go 3-2 up, but the Villagers were not to be outdone as Darby, bundled in the equaliser.

Manager Pete Cooper was very honest in his assessment of TURTON'S three goal defeat at champions Fullwood Amateurs. "We were comprehensively beaten," he said.

Manager Mick Hennessy has reluctantly had to step down as boss at BLACKROD TOWN due to work commitments. The first team reins have been taken up by Gordon Richardson and Dave Beckett, with Wayne Aspinall to assist. Town crashed at home last weekend to old rivals Lancashire Police by 3-2.
