ATHERTON LR was denied all three UniBond Division One points last night by a never-say-die from Curzon Ashton.
Derek Brownbill's side was behind twice but bounced back on both occasions to deny Dave Morris's team a win that would have seen a move into the top four.
LR impressed throughout but paid the price of not making sure that possession brought goals. A host of chances were created in the first half but the interval came with only Lee Cryer on the score sheet. Malcolm O'Connor got an equaliser of 77 minutes and this spurred LR back into action.
Two minutes later came a goal that oozed class from start to finish. Matty Brooks found Cryer with a precision 30-yard pass. He held up play and defenders before superbly releasing Joey Dunn. The ex-Warrington Town striker tempted the keeper before producing a perfect curled finish into the top corner.
With two minutes remaining the visitors again produced the sucker-punch through Chris Lee and this time it was too late in the game for LR to make amends.
Warrington Town 1 Radcliffe Borough 1
CENTRE-BACK back Simon Whittle got Radcliffe Borough off to a cracking start at Warrington Town with his second goal in consecutive games after just eight minutes.
Unfortunately, Kevin Glendon's side failed to capitalise on this early lead and Warrington equalised from a controversial free kick on 82 minutes. To add to the Borough miserable full back David Bean made a comment to a linesman following the incident and was shown a red card.
Atherton Colls 3 Flixton 1
ATHERTON Colls, 5-0 down from the away first leg of the Floodlight Trophy faced a mountain of a task against Flixton last night but in time- honoured Alder House cup fighting tradition gamely 'went for it' and certainly gave the Division One table-toppers a bit of a scare in a 3-1 win.
Colls goals came from Andy Pendlebury, with a deft flick over the keeper from a free kick, a Paul Cameron penalty, his third in the last two games, and a third strike from impressive debutant Mike Lewis.
