DETECTIVES are hunting two teenage boys who indecently assaulted a 10-year-old girl as she played in a street in Great Lever yesterday.
The little girl was approached by the boys, aged 13 or 14, in Cecilia Street at around 6pm.
They indecently assaulted her and made lewd remarks before exposing themselves to her.
The terrified child ran home and her parents contacted the police.
Officers took the child out in a patrol car to try and find the youths responsible and she managed to identify them.
But when police gave chase on foot the boys headed through an illegal gipsy camp in Great Lever.
The boys made their getaway after the officers were allegedly obstructed by the travellers.
The boys are both white and one has short, brown hair, an Irish accent and was wearing a black bomber jacket.
His friend was wearing a patterned sweatshirt and had ginger hair.
Specially trained police officers are due to interview the young girl at a special unit today to try and piece together a clearer picture of what happened to her.
Anyone who saw the boys or has any information can contact Bolton Central CID on Bolton 522466.
