SHEFFIELD United are tracking Bury's transfer listed star Tony Rigby.
Blades boss Dave Bassett has had the Shakers' revitalised midfielder watched since he destroyed the Yorkshire side in their recent Coca-Cola Cup clash.
The creative 23-year-old has reproduced the eye-catching form he showed on his arrival two years ago since asking for a transfer a month ago renewing the belief that he could have a big future in the game.
Bassett saw at first hand his ability to dominate midfield and carve openings in Bury's brilliant 4-2 victory over the Blades and is believed to be prepared to line up a bid if he can be convinced about the players' attitude.
While Rigby's talent has never been in doubt, there remains a question mark over his ability to produce high standards consistently.
But if Bassett does take his interest further Bury boss Stan Ternent is unlikely to be ready to part with Rigby in his current form unless he is tempted with a persuasive six-figure fee.
