FOUR men escaped serious injury after their car hurtled 50 feet down an embankment at Belmont.
The BMW 318 had been heading along Rivington Road just before 7pm on Saturday when it skidded and rolled down a sleep slope near the Blue Lagoon.
The driver, John Nield, 28, of Aldford Grove, Bradley Fold, scrambled out of the car with another passenger and climbed back up the slope to raise the alarm.
Ambulances took four men to Bolton Royal Infirmary after they were dragged claer. They were found not to have been seriously injured and were allowed home after treatment.
John Nield had neck, shoulder and lower leg injuries and Christopher Nield, 20 of Eskdale Road, Blackrod, was treated for an injured ankle.
Passenger James Wallwork, 19, of Manchester Road, Blackrod, suffered an arm injury, and Jay McCarthy, 16, of Ashfield Avenue, Hindley Green, was treated for face, leg and arm injuries.
