Boss blasts inept Bury BURY boss Stan Ternent made a startling admission in the wake of Saturday's inept 2-0 home defeat by Scarborough.

"The fans have every right to call for the manager to be sacked after performances like that."

In the event it was chairman Terry Robinson who the fans turned on at full time and not the man who has only been in the Gigg Lane hot seat for seven weeks.

But Ternent refuses to shirk the responsibility - and looks set to get get tough with players who have produced the two worst performances of the season in the space of four disastrous days.

"I feel cheated and let down by the players.

"And when some of them are left out of the side I don't want them knocking on my door asking why they are not playing - because the reason is the way they played on Saturday."

"We have nobody playing anywhere near their capabilities in the last two games. They played so well in the last two home games against Sheffield United and Leyton Orient and then for some reason they looked frightened to death out there.

"I have told them they are the future of this club. But they are paid for two 45-minute sessions on a Saturday afternoon and inept performances like Saturday's are not acceptable."

Bury will again be without striker Mark Carter (hamstring) for tomorrow night's Coca-Cola Cup third round trip to First Division Reading but will have skipper David Pugh available after a three-match ban and defender Michael Jackson is back in the frame following injury.

The Shakers have been drawn against Blyth Spartans of the Unibond Premier Division at Gigg Lane in the first round of the FA Cup in three weeks.
