SIR: I have been a regular player in the national lottery since it started last year. But I am becoming more and more disgusted with the way the money is being spent in the last few weeks.
Now I hear millions are being spent on opera theatres and the like - all down South. If these theatres can't fund themselves by tickets sales, then there must be very little interest in them, so why pour money into them? If it was a cinema or concert hall etc., it would simply close down. Yet we see harmless people sleeping rough, children having to go abroad to be treated for illnesses with money raised by charities or, worse still, getting refused treatment altogether. Law and order is pathetic. What's happened to this country's morals? I would love to win millions, go on the show, and give some of it away to these just causes and tell the privileged few to look after their own theatres.
