BURY goal hero Phil Stant is in a class of his own, according to the man who made his full debut alongside him in Saturday's sensational 5-1 victory at Mansfield.

Jet-heeled teenager Dave Johnson formed a stunning combination with veteran goal poacher Stant to rip apart a team which was previously unbeaten in the league at home.

But the 19-year-old, signed on a free transfer from Manchester United in the summer, is happy to heap the credit on four-goal hero Stant.

"He only had five chances all game and scored four of them," he recalled.

"His finishing was a joy to watch. He beat the keeper with a little trick for his first goal and then repeated it twice more. He's just brilliant.

"When I arrived at the club in the summer I heard that he had scored a lot of goals wherever he has been. And I soon saw for myself how good he is when he scored in the first few games when we were not doing too well."

Johnson and Stant will line up together again tomorrow night when the Shakers aim to build on their biggest victory of the season and pile on the agony for Torquay who lost 8-1 at home to Scunthorpe on Saturday.

But Saturday's hero Stant today guarded against complacency when he said: "We've got to keep our feet on the ground and forget about Mansfield. "The lads were brilliant but that's over now and we've got to go to Torquay and make sure we get a result there."
