A HARPER Green school pupil is being rushed into hospital tomorrow - even though he is as fit as a fiddle.
Jamie Harrison, a 14-year-old in year 10 at the Farnworth school, is making his first TV appearance as a young patient in the children's series "The Ward."
Jamie, the eldest of five children, was picked from hundreds of young thespians to star in the Granada TV drama series as troublemaker Gareth, who is in hospital with a kidney illness.
"He's really more like a problem child. He causes a lot of problems," Jamie told the Bolton Evening News, although he did admit that acting the part was "brilliant good fun." Jamie has got the acting bug since starting as a pupil at Harper Green and is studying for a GCSE in drama.
He has appeared in every school production since and is currently working out the choreography and preparing to play the role of Daddy Warbucks in a forthcoming production of "Annie."
Filming for "The Ward" took him two weeks and Jamie can be seen in a total of four episodes.
And Jamie's friends think it is great to have a budding young star in their midst.
"They are all over the moon for me. They have all got their videos set," he said.
Now Jamie is hoping his agency "Northern Kids" will be able to get him more TV work on the strength of his appearance in "The Ward."
