A TRIAL course to show Bolton men how to use their appearance as "a business tool" attracted only three takers.

Bolton and Bury Chamber of Commerce, who ran the "Men's Appearance Skills Workshop" say they are not too disappointed by the response.

But the first action replay - planned for the near future - will be for business WOMEN.

The course was tailored to accommodate six men keen to literally "brush up" on their appearance. They paid £95 apiece - including lunch and a glossy manual - to learn from an image consultant how to make first impressions really tell in the business world.

All the takers were from the upper management side of business.

A spokeswoman for the Chamber said repeat courses were planned for men, even though only half the places had been taken on the first one.
