MASSIVE load of aid for war-torn Bosnia has left Kearsley, thanks to a huge effort by schoolchildren and church members.

It all began when Stella and Ernest Baxendale, members of Kearsley New Jerusalem Church, learned about the work of a charity called Heart Felt, which sends regular loads of aid to the former Yugoslavia and other trouble spots.

They started the ball rolling in Kearsley, with the backing of the minister the Rev John Presland, enlisted the help of everyone in the church and all the children and staff at Kearsley West County Primary School.

More than 200 sacks of clothing, textiles, medical items - and even a pram - were loaded aboard a box van to be transported to the suffering people of the Mostar region of Bosnia.

The man driving the van, Ken Lelliott met the children in the school hall to explain all about the work of Heart Felt before the loading began.
