SIR: Recently, I paid my first visit, in a very long time to Bolton, to go shopping. This is entirely due to the ridiculously high parking charges. I decided to visit on a Sunday as I was under the impression that Sunday parking was free. Returning to my car I was shocked to find a parking ticket.
If this is the way to encourage shoppers to Bolton, then the council are sadly misguided. I shall not be returning to Bolton at all to shop and shall do all my future shopping in Bury, where you can park at a very reasonable price. Another driver next to my car was also fined due to making the same mistake.
Perhaps the council will put the money towards a fire-work display next year as Bolton was the only local town not to do have such a display.
