BURY have been rocked by an injury to the one man they have no specialist cover for.
Left back Stuart Bimson will be out for a month after fracturing an elbow in Tuesday night's heartbreaking 2-1 Coca-Cola Cup defeat at Reading.
The injury gives manager Stan Ternent a selection dilemma for Saturday's FA Cup first round clash with Blyth Spartans at Gigg Lane and could force him to move into the transfer market to strengthen an area where the Shakers lack competition.
The immediate remedy could see fit-again central defender Michael Jackson return to plug the gap or skipper David Pugh may again be asked to drop back into the defence as he did earlier in the season.
Striker Mark Carter is challenging for his old place alongside top scorer Phil Stant after proving his fitness as substitute on Tuesday night.
Bury have been drawn away to either Rotherham or Scunthorpe in the first round of the Auto Windscreens Shield if they can beat Wigan in the final group game at Gigg Lane next Tuesday night.
