AT the final event of the Diamond Back Junior Series held at Leisure Lakes, Southport, Bolton Mountain youth bikers picked up the team trophy in the 13/15 year old category.
Series winner David Brailsford again stamped his authority on the race taking control from the 3rd lap to win comfortably, Mark Smith having won the 10/12 year Series, moved up a category to race against riders nearly three years older and showed plenty of promise by finishing 7th third member of the team Anthony Brown finished 14th.
At the Lightwater Lakes MTB race at Ripon vet rider Bob Taylor battled hard to finish a fine 3rd whilst youth rider Neil Prentice overcame a chest infection to finish 5th in a very competitive race.
Over at the Wigan Wheelers, North West Cyclo cross championships vet rider Roy Hunt took part in the Senior category and finished 8th out of a field of over 70 riders.
