Wanderers RES 2 LIVERPOOL RES 0 BOLTON Reserves beat a star-studded £17million-rated Liverpool side 2-0 at Burnden Park last night to maintain their unbeaten home record.
Three weeks ago it was Newcastle who succumbed to the Wanderers - but last night's performance was far more comprehensive.
Fabian de Freitas and Scott Green combined up front and totally overshadowed their visiting counterparts of Stan Collymore and Nigel Clough.
The opening goal came four minutes from the interval when Wayne Burnett's left wing corner was headed goalwards by de Freitas and Green got the final touch.
After the interval Wanderers maintained their grip with Burnett and Mark Patterson working tirelessly in the engine room. De Freitas outpaced Neil Ruddock to see his piledriver blocked by keeper Tony Warner but the Dutchman went one better when he increased Wanderers' lead in the 64th minute when he headed home Mark Powell's right wing cross.
Mark Walters came closest to replying for Liverpool but the centre half was twice denied by Aiden Davison.
Team: Davison, Powell, Aljofree, Todd, Strong, Taggart, Burnett, Patterson, de Freitas, Green, Whittaker.
