A DRIVER had a lucky escape when a set of double wheels came loose from a single-deck bus and smashed into his car on Nelson Street, Bolton.
The Volvo bus, owned by Timeline Travel, was travelling towards Farnworth when the near-side rear wheels separated from the axle.
One of the wheels rolled into the car which was being driven in the opposite direction by 34-year-old Michael Stirzaker, aged 34, of Albert Road West, Bolton. The bus was being driven by Roy Wilks, aged 34, of Barlow Street, Horwich. Both drivers were uninjured.
