POLICE are appealing for information following an armed robbery outside a supermarket.
A security guard was confronted by two gunmen on the Kwik Save car park in Bolton Road, Atherton at 5pm last night.
He was forced to hand over a cash-box, and the men, both wearing balaclavas, escaped in a stolen white Ford Orion registration number G451 FHG. It was abandoned in Milldale Close near its junction with Gloucester Street, Atherton where the men transferred to a dark coloured car.
They drove off along Schofield Lane, towards Westhoughton and threw the cash box from the car.
The Orion had been stolen around 8pm to 10pm Sunday January 14 from Victoria Street, Horwich.
Police are appealing for anyone with information, including the whereabouts of the car from the time it was stolen, to contact Tyldesley CID.
