The 'performance' of the season put NWCL Division 2 side Daisy Hill into the last eight of the Lancashire ATS Trophy in a 2-1 victory at Blackpool Rovers. The Division 1 Seasiders had earlier in the season put Daisy out of the NWCL Challenge Cup and a repeat looked on the cards when they took the lead on 20 minutes. Jimmy Hulton's side however is made of sterner stuff these days and within four minutes a Shaun Lilley header levelled the score. It took an own goal in a mad scramble halfway through the second half to seal the tie but it was no more than Daisy deserved. An ecstatic Hulton commented: "We had to resist a lot of pressure towards the end but we defended magnificently." Colin Smith picked up the Air Products Man of the Match award for his heroic display in the centre of defence. Atherton LR 1 Chorley 2.

Atherton LR crashed out of the Lancs Trophy in a 2-1 home defeat by Unibond Premier big-spenders Chorley but only just! Rovers fell to a controversial goal just three minutes from time when a free kick was awarded to the visitors that for all the world looked as though it should have been given in LR's favour for a foul on Damien Kelly. In the scramble that followed Steven Ellerby got his second goal of the game, after hitting his first on 65 mins. Dave Morris' side had deservedly lead at half time after a stunning strike from Tony Pemberton on 35 minutes.
