SIR: I was very surprised when I read that those two great British landmarks, Lands End and John O'Groats were to be sold off for five million pounds.

Then when I read that they were already owned by New Zealand I just couldn't believe it.

I suppose I shouldn't be too shocked though considering most of our car industry has now been taken over by foreign companies. Even our Great Rolls Royce is no longer completely British. Our water and electricity companies are being sought after by foreigners.

I have never heard a 'peep' out of the Euro Sceptics. Yet they are always going on about losing our sovereignty when further integration with Europe is debated.

I think their objectives are very hollow indeed.
