SASA Curcic got the all-clear today to continue his exciting FA Cup adventure.

The super Serb, two goal hero of Wanderers' 3-0 Third round win at Bradford, limped out of Saturday's 2-1 Premiership defeat at Newcastle but is expected to be fit for Saturday's Fourth Round clash with Leeds United.

"Sasa picked up a knock on the knee but it's nothing that should keep him out of the next game," Burnden boss Colin Todd confirmed.

"He wanted to come off at half time but we decided to give him a few minutes to run it off in the second half. He was obviously in some discomfort but it's nothing serious."

Losing Curcic so early in the second period upset Wanderers' game plan for the Tyneside tussle with the runaway Premiership leaders. Even without him they went desperately close to becoming the first team to take a point at St James' this season.

Todd had hoped David Lee on the right and Curcic on the left would have kept Newcastle full-backs John Beresford and Warren Barton occupied with Lee in particular given the specific role of restricting the service to danger-man David Ginola.

The Frenchman gave Lee and Scott Green a difficult afternoon but the little Bolton winger, back for his first full game for two months proved a threat himself.

The result left Wanderers still five points adrift of QPR at the foot of the Premiership and, with Coventry drawing at Manchester City, seven points short of the safety zone. But Alan Stubbs still believes they can avoid the drop.

"The spirit in the changing room is absolutely brilliant," the captain confirmed. "The lads are staying together and we'll keep going. I'm confident we'll make it.

"We took a great deal of heart from Saturday's game. We came away without reward but with a lot of credit considering we went to a stadium like Newcastle's - and it is awesome out there - and give probably our best display of the season.

"We took the game to them and frightened them quite a bit."

Wanderers have central defenders Gerry Taggart and Chris Fairclough available for the cup tie after suspensions and will give Alan Thompson his first runout in Wednesday's reserve game at home to Manchester United. Italian trialist Enzo Gambaro will get his second Pontins League outing.
