Horwich SUNDAY LEAGUE SOLARLIGHT Grey Mare continued their recent revival when they won 4-1 away to Albion in the Premier Division.
Grey Mare took a first half lead with a goal from Michael Coop, and although Albion pressed for an equalising goal they went in 1-0 up.
In the second half Albion pressed and were rewarded with an equaliser from a cracking strike by Chris Smith, but Albion were caught on the break when Jason Wilcox put Grey Mare 2-1 in front.
Grey Mare settle the game with late goals from Dave Thornton and Andy Chesne to make it 17 goals in their last three games. Bay Mare took a surprise point from a lack lustre Jolley Miller in a 2-2 draw which allowed 1st Stop DIY to make up some ground at the top of the table when they won 3-2 in a close game away at Trevals. Astley/Tyldesley were defeated 3-2 at home to St Edmunds after at one stage being 2-0 up with goals from a John Walker double, Saints coming back with goals from Keith Edge, Mike Clement and an own goal.
There were also wins for Cheetham Arms 2-1 at home against Arkwrights and Rumworth won a close game 1-0 at home to Victory.
In the first division Kings took over pole position at the top after winning 5-2 at home to Postal with White Horse Rangers losing their second game in succession away at New Inn 3-2. Horwich Victoria also won a close game 3-2 at home to Barnstormers. Sams X1 kept in touch with the leading p ack when they won 4-1 at home to Bolton Deaf and Miller Fold shared the points in a 2-2 draw at home against in-form Red Lion.
