Strugglers finding a winning way IN the Premier Division congratulations must go to Bolton Lads Club who after 15 games and 1,350 minutes of football finally won a game beating Summerseat 5-4.
Against a team whose defence was worse than their own they made hard work of it scoring goals at one end only to concede them at the other.
Hindsford gave Ainsworth a hammering 6-2, Shaun Burton getting four goals to set them up nicely in fourth place.
Tottington United's title chances took another dent losing to Ambassadors 2-1 who recorded a double.
Walkden AFC and Atherton C & N played out a goalless draw and cold windy conditions made good football hard to play, but Steve Thornton in the Walkden goal had a brilliant game.
Walkers Leisure moved into second place with their 2-2 draw against a lively Hindley Green side who like themselves, can still win the championship and are keeping the pressure on leaders Stoneclough, who just can't relax despite their five point lead at the top. Z In Division One, leaders Atherton C&N Res were surprisingly beaten by third bottom Monton Amateurs 2-1, despite leading 1-0 at half time and looking good to win. In the second they came out the stronger and more determined side to score two goals to take the points.
Hindsford AFC Res made Little Lever fight all the way for their three points losing narrowly 2-1 in a nail biter.
Ladybridge took all three points from a Tyldesley United side who just didn't have the fire power to trouble them with Ladybridge winning 5-1.
Tottington United were always too strong for Ambassadors Res in aone sided game winning 6-0 to maintain their two point lead over Little Lever who have games in hand over them.
In their delayed Division Two cup tie both Howe Bridge Mills Res and Ainsworth Res played good football. Ainsworth did their best work in the first half to go into the break with a 1-0 lead. Howe Bridge took over in the second using the ball well and played some outstanding football and it came as no surprise when they equalised.
The game went into extra time but despite both teams looking for the winner both defences stood firm and kept the score at 1-1 to take the game to a replay at Ainsworth's Bankfield ground.
