PRINCESS Di has sent a "good luck" greeting to an event designed to honour Bolton women. The Princess, reeling from the desertion of her closest aides and facing a bitter divorce, has had to turn down an invitation to the Bolton Women of the Year 1995 Awards and Charity Luncheon at the Bolton Moat House on February 9. But she passed on her thanks and best wishes for the success of the event.
"It was lovely to receive the letter, and to know she wishes us well," said Mayoress Audrey Rushton.
Ticket sales for the £12.50 a head four-course luncheon are going well. And nominations for the Woman of the Year competition with its £250 first prize are flowing in.
The event, sponsored by Bolton structural engineers William Hare Ltd, is raising money to buy special relaxation equipment for Bolton Hospice. Tickets are available from the Ticket and Information Office at Bolton Town Hall, or by ringing Sally Heyes at the Mayor's Office on Bolton 522311. Nominations for Woman of the Year are open to the end of January. Send nominating letters (including the signature of the person being nominated) also to the Mayor's Office.
