AN infant, having no other covering than an old pair of stays and part of a blanket was found lying upon the pavement of one of the streets of Sheffield on Sunday morning, by a machinist who took it to the police station. Subsequently the mother went to the police station and claimed the child, stating that she had taken it out with her, and having put it on the pavement had forgotten to pick it up.

To say the least of it, it is a case of singular forgetfulness.
